After revealing who she was and why she was there, Bali was impressed by her love for her husband and asked Vishnu to return to her home with him.

Why do we celebrate Raksha Bandhan?

On this day a sister ties a rakhi on her sibling’s wrist to appeal to God for his thriving, wellbeing, and prosperity. In return, the brother gives gifts and promises to protect his sister from any harm and under all circumstances. This festival is also celebrated among distant family members, relatives, or cousins.

Historical evidence says that once Purushottam (King of Punjab) was about to conquer Sikandar. During that time Sikandar’s wife had tied a rakhi to King Purushottam to save her husband from being killed.

According to another historical legend, during Humayun’s rule, the queen of Chittor — Rani Karnavati — tied a rakhi to the great Humayun to save her kingdom from the evil attack of Bahadur Shah. Despite not being a Hindu, Humayun respected his wish and went to his aid. There are numerous religions in India that have distinctive importance or which means for Raksha Bandhan.

For example, for Jains, this festival is rejoiced by receiving a thread or woven bracelet from their priests. Raksha Bandhan is celebrated as Rakhi or Rakhi by the Sikh community.
